Well, after some considerable searching, and a few missed opportunities, we finally managed to buy a farmhouse 'in need of renovation' in the French Alps. This section of the website is a sort of irregularly updated journal, a 'blog' if you will, describing the process of Leaving a relatively highly paid job in the City, moving to France, doing up a battered farmhouse, becoming a fully qualified chairlift operator, and whatever happens in the future.
The entries contained within are left, pretty much, as they are - grammar and spelling mistakes are left for posterity - this is a write once, read never^H^H^H^H^Hmany enterprise.
Of all the stuff on this site, the one that generates the most mail (apart from all the poxy spam I get from having an email address on the web, of course) is the mythical book on French Electrics. It seems that I'm not the only englishman fool enough to buy some old shitty French property and want to do it up. So. The book you want is "L'installation Electrique", and you can buy it online at Comme un Pro. It's in French, of course...
